This photograph is full of movement and different colors which stands out in he middle of the night making it the focus point, that effect was possible by setting a slower shutter speed. The dramatic contrast between the bright lights and the dark background makes the photo look bold

My theme is the time of the day because I’m really interested in the amazing effects a particular time of day could create to the extent to even transforming the subject into a whole new interpretation of its shapes, colors and details. This creates different point of view such as abstract, and surreal .It will be developed in several interesting areas of New York at specific time of the day such as sunrise, midday, sunset and night time. i want to capture the different color that reflects over the course of the day, when the light changes from to warm color at sunrise, to a cold blue at noon, to a warm red or orange at sunset and then at night the objects takes different source of artificial light.

At sunrise, the sun often takes on a flattened appearance as it rises above the horizon. When partially obscured and softened by a haze, its warm, red glow illuminates the foreground. it will be nice if i could capture the sunrise behind skylines with the lights of the sun going through the gaps between each building.

At midday the sun is really bright that’s why the colors appear, bright, and accurately rendered in the photo, which it suits really well for natural environment with trees and flowers because the colors appears natural and intense.

At sunset the light is often quite red-orange in tone. The reddish cast is a wonderful light to photograph because it adds a richer and darker tone to the objects and transform them drastically. I hope i will be able enlarge the disk of the sun so that it becomes a more important part of the picture so the foreground objects are silhouetted against the bright sky. This time of day is especially nice taken near the water because the reflection of the sun in the water. Its also interesting to take pictures of the objects which has the reflection and the soft glow of warm colors at sunset that are particularly in this time of day, that’s why I’m going to focus a little bit more in this section because i think i could achieve a variety of effects such as interesting combinations of figure and ground reverse by the reflections, different tone range and colors depending on the intensity of the sunset, different effect on different subjects.

At night time is really interesting how the subject changes drastically depending on the type and intensity of the artificial lights in its surroundings and the type of reflection tone ranges can be achieved by it. The pictures i want to take at night are the New York City skylines.

My final project basically based on different locations where certain time of day plays as one of the key components that highlights or transforms the place. The main locations that I choose are 34th street in Manhattan, battery park, 42nd street, 68th street and shore Rd in Brooklyn, Brooklyn heights and west side Hudson river.

the best photo from the last several weeks

This photo i took it in a construction site in long Island, after so much rain the day before the interior of the house was full of water. What makes this photo good is the reflection of the surrounding elements on the water, it looks like a mirror image of the objects and what makes the reflection even more interesting is the segment of 2 windows that are only shown in the reflection.

katvan Still Life

Usually most laptops are photographed in a common style but Katvan had a different approach which is combining two open powerbooks together tilted to make them look like a hollow three dimentional diamond shape. the photographer shows the different angles of the computer as well. The logo of the Apple computer its flat like a symbol of an apple with one byte on the right side but Katvan uses a real apple with bite marks all over to show the logo of the apple computer was a really different approach. transforming a boring rectangle computer in something more dynamic along with a interesting theme.

favorite of the week

I like the vivid colors of the sky at that time of day, specially the gradient look with the dark red, orange, yellow and blue and surrounded with dark edges. The sky had a paticular pattern that make it more interstenting and different.

Photo plus expo

I went to the photo expo on saturday, it was really interesting seeing all major companies that produces cameras such as Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax and fuji. On top of that there were a lot of printing companies as well as acessories, equipment, programs and online web portfolio services for photographers. I spent most of my time trying out the cameras from the different companies and the one that i found the most interesting one is the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT 8 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Kit because The Canon EOS Rebel XT makes gloriously detailed 8-megapixel images and offers unsurpassed image quality. Colors are saturated and generally natural, although the automatic white balance tends toward warm and yellowish in some situations; however, with a better lens kit, it can tack-sharp images with a superior tonal range and extraordinary detail from shadows to highlights. Canon is the fastest in term of speed and It has a nearly instantaneous start-up time, firing a shot in only 0.2 second compared with the other brands with the same price range. After checking out the Apple store booth which had like a lecture about how to use Aperture i decided to get the program and give it a try because has much more features.

This picture was photographed by Karl Blossfeldt, i find amazing the way the he compose this picture because from a normal object in the picture you perceive a new meaning and interpretation of the same object. I like the curves and shapes of the objects makes the picture look dynamic and asymetrical.

favorite picture

This picture was taken in manhattan around 5 pm at sunset, the bus contains a clear reflection of the sunset warm golden colors and the dark silouettes of the trees in the surounding. The time of the day and the reflection of its color really change the subject in a more interesting way.

This photograph was created by Nick Koudis, the picture of the car on the garage is a separate picture from the huge guy sitting on top of the car, this combination creates a sense of superiority and unrealistic scenario. I like this picture because it loos so real with the reflection of the guy over the car and the way his shawdow is cast. One of the main reasons is the angle of the guy in relation of the car.

In advertisement is a competitive world and the clients want something unheard of and unrealistic to atract the costomes attention.

I like the simplicity of the composition and the way the artist presents the main object of the picture (below a lamp ). Although the green leaves of the plant are illuminated with soft light, the color (green) stands out from the dark red background. I also like the reflection from the lamp into the floor and the contrast of the color red and the grey-blue.

The re-shoot of the mailcarrier in Cadman Plaza, I picked this picture beacuse there is a partial view of the 2 mailbox next to each other where in the middle in betwen there is a mirror image of white car against both mailbox which intesify the contrat of colors.
